One Year A Tripawd!

Happy Valentine’s Day!

It’s a special one around here because it’s my ampuversary! I had surgery one year ago to become a tri-pawsome tripawd! It was hard at first and I didn’t like my cone, but it didn’t take long for me to start feeling so much better without that painful injured leg hanging around.

Since then I’ve been thriving! I play often with my neighborhood friends, catch a ball like a star outfielder, and patrol my neighborhood rain or shine.

I love the cold weather, especially the snow. Mom throws shovelfuls in the air and I jump really high to snatch the flakes in my mouth. It’s my favorite game! Even in the bitter cold, Mom has a hard time convincing me to come inside.

When it’s super cold, she makes me wear a coat. I hate the coat. I’ll let her put it on me, but I pout and try to shake it off. I guess if it means I can go on our walks, I’ll have to put up with it.

I had a great Christmas with lots of treats and presents that I promptly destroyed. I’m still working on that. I just get so excited that I have to chew, chew, chew! I’m a good boy though – I never chew things that aren’t mine.

I’ll leave this blog on some great news. My sweet little friend Eddie finally found his furever home! I’m so happy for him! He has a sister and a big yard to play in, and he can finally walk on a leash without being afraid. I’m so happy I could help him on his journey. 🐾

Places to be, things to do!

I’ve been a busy pup these few months! Without the cone, I’m free to be me, and I’ve been living it up! I’m getting better at the basics of being a good dog: waiting, listening, not dragging my mama down the street (but it’s SO much easier to go fast! Y’all can relate, right?)

I’ve also noticed I can’t scratch the left side of my neck and head anymore, so I curl into a C shape and Mom knows to give me a good scratching. She doesn’t do it as well as I could, but it works.

I visited a lake for the first time and it was fun! I liked splashing around and helping Mom collect rocks. Rolling in the long grass was fun too.

I’ve also enjoyed having lots of friends stay with me when their foster folks have other things to do. I love meeting new friends and having sleepovers – we run and play in the yard and have a great time. Two of them are also tripawds!

This is Three and he’s available for adoption! He looks very serious, doesn’t he? He’s a good boy who likes to snuggle and play with other dogs.

Shaboozey and I became fast friends…Mom & Dad almost kept him.

I have more adventures to share, but I’ll save them for next time. Hopefully Mom will be better about the updates from now on. She tries…

Hello, Fellow Tripawds!

My name’s Bentley, and I come from the Cheyenne River Reservation in South Dakota. When I was a stray there, I broke my leg pretty bad. My foster mom (soon to be my furever mom) thinks I was hit by a car. I do like to chase them – it’s the cattle dog in me. 😉 My leg didn’t heal well – it was pretty short and hurt a lot when I ran and played.

The pawsome peeps at Rescue Network brought me to Minnesota, where the doctor decided I would be in less pain if my leg was gone. I wasn’t too sad about it – I didn’t use it that much anyway.

My surgery was on Valentine’s Day and now I feel great! My foster mom says I’m very hard to keep down – even two days after surgery I just wanted to run!

I’m glad to be here! I’m looking forward to meeting more pups like me and learning how to live my best life.
